A seemingly indestructible and nearly god-like man has haunted the dreams of many for decades now. His name is John Constantine, and he is a master of dark magic and sorcery. He has been around so long that quite a few viewers don't even remember his first appearance in Hellblazer #1 back in New York City back in 1971. Constantine blew up comic book shops when it was published, but since then his comic book has evolved into an ever-lasting success with multiple TV series and movies to follow suit, all of which have received critical acclaim. There is one particular moment that signifies the transformation from "webcomic" to "pop culture icon". This is the moment that Constantine is flung into Heaven by an angel. When Constantine looks up, he sees God looking down at him, with a strangely familiar face. This moment of the angel is portrayed in many different ways in different comics and movies, but it's most iconic when Constantine finds himself face-to-face with the devil, who claims to be God. John Constantine is a master of magic that soon finds himself pulled into the middle of a war between Heaven and Hell, both wanting to harness his powers for their own purposes. The story begins when Constantine finds himself getting dragged through various portals every time he dies. One can imagine how many times he has died in his lifetime. He is finally released, only to find out that he was in Hell the whole time. The Devil tells him that he was stuck in Limbo for so long because Hell didn't have any use for him, but now that Hell is thrown into chaos, they need Constantine's help to reclaim what was lost. Because of this, the Devil no longer wants to collect Constantine's soul when he dies because his soul would be too valuable. Even though Constantine is being controlled by the Devil, he uses these words as a cover-up to make people think that it's all part of his plan. In the end, it turns out that he is working for Heaven. In this comic series, John's arrival in Los Angeles acts as a catalyst to a war between Angels and Demons over the balance of power. The Archon have been stealing people's souls and leaving a pile of dust behind in order to gain access to heaven where they plan on staging a take over. The Angels send Constantine in to stop the Archon from using his anti-bodies from being used against them, but this also serves as trying to stop them trying something similar with him. A lot of the early issues in this series are centered around Constantine's attempts to deal with an ancient soul when he accidentally frees it when he grabs hold of the Archon. John Constantine faces off against the Archon who are attempting to use his power against them in order to stop them from stealing souls. The Devil tells John that they need his soul in order for him to gain access into heaven, but also that they can't kill him in order for him to keep his soul in Limbo. He instead intends to make John an offer, but John doesn't seem too interested in doing anything with her. cfa1e77820
